Day 188 – 20/11/2019 on a Midlife Adventure at Sea

The last stop on this cruise before we return to Sydney and today i’m off on a train journey.

Picton, NZ

The Marlborough Sounds are another stunning port entrance however unlike the Milford Sounds you can dock here.

The train is your classic steam train journey and departs from across the road from where the bus drops passengers off in Picton.

We are soon ready for departure and the train driver toots the horn.

The journey through to Blenheim, NZ is very uneventful but goes through some great scenery.

I head out for some lunch, and decided that the pastrami sandwich sounded great. Remembering the excellent american Ruben’s I have had on visits to the US.

Not exactly sure what happened to the pastrami though.

I had a stroll through town, it hasn’t changed much in the years since I was last there. One of the companies I previously used to visit there is now a mortgage broker office though.

So I was back at the train station well ahead of my departure. I was going to have a wine tasting however found out that it was premeasured wines and you brought a pass so I decided to give it a miss.

The train returned to the station and we were soon on our way.

I headed to the gap between carriages to get a better view.

It is important to get that all important picture of the front of the train as you go around a corner.

There was still some time to explore Picton when we returned.

It seems some other people took a train trip to… however I think the one I went on was better.

But too soon it was time to get back onboard the ship ready for departure.

Tonight’s animal on the bed was unknown to me… i’ll let you decide what the animal is…

So confused as to what it is i’m off to bed at the end of another day on this Midlife Adventure.
