Located about 20km out of Barcaldine, Qld the Lara Station Wetlands is a working cattle station. 

The dirt road in is well maintained so no issue accessing it with a caravan. 

You check in at a little hut and after paying the small fee you are welcome to find any site around the wetland that suits you. 

Friday evenings they have a cook up and I joined in, it was a great night out and being so far out of town the stars are just amazingly bright.  

This is just one of those special places that you come across and would happily return. 

You can have a fire if you bring firewood.
