Day 43 – 27/6/2019
If you haven’t spotted it by now I quite enjoy a zoo they provide a nice day out and a chance to get up and close with animals that you don’t get to necessarily see every day.
Whilst on previous visits to the Gold Coast I have done the theme parks so wanted to give them a miss this trip. The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is somewhere I have driven past many times on the way to the airport but not somewhere I have had time to previously stop.
So off I head today with some clearing weather but not perfect to discover what it is about. The park on initial review seems very small, however what you discover is that it extends under the motorway to the other side and has been built up into the hills.
Being a large park also built into the side of a hill provides a good walk and they have some great exhibits around the park.
The bird show was a highlight with the birds flying right above your head including the Wedge-tailed Eagle.
They also have a train that makes its way around the park which saved the walk back to the exit in the afternoon.
That is a wrap on my time here in the Gold Coast as I make way for all of the Australian Television stars about to land in the GC for the Logies, heading north again tomorrow.
Its hard not to enjoy this Midlife Adventure.
