Day 70 – 24/7/2019 on this Midlife Adventure

It was an early start with the bus departing at 7am, so I am very thankful that the brand new coffee shop at the front of the caravan park opened in the last month to give me a kick starter.

Off to the Port of Airlie, Qld and on a cruise across to Daydream Island, Qld.

Cruise Whitsundays

Daydream Island, Qld suffered big damage in 2017 when cyclone Debbie went through the region. The resort only recently opened in the last month after a multi-million dollar make over.

Daydream Island

The lagoon pool looks very much as it did and whilst it was windy it was still nice to spend some time looking around the resort.

The major improvement was a new underwater viewing platform, that is quite impressive.

They do fish feeding at 10am each day which is fun to watch.

Before the cyclone, Lovers Cove used to be a great spot to snorkel now its just a coral beach which looks pretty but not a great place to swim.

It was then off to Hamilton Island, Qld where there was lunch provided as part of the tour. I chose the Fish & Chips which was Barramundi.

Hamilton Island is a resort island and quite large with the resort spread across the island with some private homes (lucky people). Everyone gets around on golf buggies which you can hire for your stay.

I went to the main pool and had a swim, it was a bit cold but still refreshing.

They have two bus routes that cross the island I went on both. The Blue route takes you to the lookout which is a great view of the Island.

View from the lookout.

That wrapped up my visit with a trip back to Airlie Beach and the close of another day on this Midlife Adventure.
