Day 5 – 21/5/2019

My last day in the Mildura region started off with a walk along the shopping mall and I shouted myself a coffee at a popular cafe.

Heading down to the river I jumped on the Paddle Steamer Melbourne

Its a 2 hour journey, normally held twice a day and taking the attendees through Lock 11. Today however maintenance on the lock forced the itinerary change to up river towards Gol Gol.

Today’s captain was Angus who only a few weeks earlier got his Captain stripes. He provided a very informative commentary along the river as he navigated his way along the river.

The PS Melbourne is still steam driven with the fires stoked throughout the cruise.

With a small cafe on board it was a comfortable cruise and a nice way to spend some time on the river… although had I been offered a ride on a JetSki I may have chosen that in preference.

Not long after passing Gol Gol we turned around and headed homeward.

I used the afternoon to prepare to move on in the morning and undertaking my afternoon rituals of reading enjoying some sun.
