Day 259 – 30/1/2020 on a Midlife Adventure.

With the heat continuing at a planned 47 today we made an early start to the day to beat the heat.

The fires recently came through a long section of this road through to Balladonia, WA.

An interesting element across the Nullarbor is that they have these emergency runways dotted across with some clearing nearby for planes to turn around. Some of these were used during the Christmas fires to help deliver supplies to people stuck.

The Nullarbor is one of the straightest & longest sections of road in the world where apparently you can see the curve of the earth.

Not long after this my big surprise for the day… a Kangaroo decided to check out the long straight road too… unfortunately for it my car got in its way and then the front left, rear left, and both caravan left wheels…. sorry native animal… but unfortunately at that speed very little I can do but try and get out of your way.

Making a quick stop in at Caiguna Roadhouse we let the dog have a quick run before getting back on the road.

Continuing the travel we get back onto the road and continue the journey with the temp increasing.

The temp quickly got to the forecast top and the car aircon did a great job.

So not to stress out the cars too much we stopped in at Madura, WA for the night.

The entrance to the service station is at the bottom of a hill and the above picture is of the vastness of the plains. Camping here is pretty basic and not exactly flat, we enjoyed some drinks in at the bar before some dinner and a good nights rest. So that makes it about half way across and tomorrow I leave WA after 3 months. So the Midlife Adventure continues and the leg towards home increasingly closer.
